Jordan excels in organ transplantation, especially kidney and bone marrow transplants. According to the Jordanian Ministry of Health law, liver and kidney transplants are allowed, provided that the donor is a relative (father, mother, brother, sister, uncle and aunt) and donation between spouses is also permitted. The age of the donor should be between 18 and 65 years old. Noting that preoperative laboratory and compatibility tests should be done. It is absolutely not allowed to trade in organs and pay the price of the transplanted organ.
Kidney Transplant
Jordan is one of the regionally advanced countries in kidney transplantation, and large numbers of kidney transplant procedures are performed annually, with high success rates, comparable with global results, performed by experienced and specialized doctors. The donor is given the choice of harvesting the kidney by laparoscopy instead of the traditional surgery, which reduces the donor's length of stay at the hospital and with less pain. The donor's length of stay is four days in the case of traditional surgery, and the recipient's length of stay is approximately seven days. If the recipient is from outside Jordan, he must stay for two weeks in Jordan after being discharged from the hospital for follow-up and treatment.
Liver Transplant
In Jordan, highly specialized centers perform partial liver transplants with high success rates. Where the donor stay is 3-4 days and the patient stay 7-10 days.
If the patient is from abroad, he must stay for four weeks in Jordan after being discharged from the hospital for follow-up and treatment.
Bone Marrow Transplant
Bone marrow transplants for children and adults are performed in Jordan with high success rates, as all infection control standards are applied to ensure the success of the operation. The patient needs to stay in the hospital for a period of not less than one month.
