Chairman of the Private Hospitals Association Lectures at the 9th International Conference of the Royal Medical Services

  

  

Dr. Fawzi Al- Hammouri, Chairman of the Private Hospitals Association presented a lecture entitled "The Return on Investment in Health" during the 9th International Conference of the Royal Medical Services which was held under the Royal Patronage at the Conference Palace in the Dead Sea during the period from 30/10/2018 to 2/11/2018.
 
Dr. AL- Hammouri reviewed the volume of investment and health expenditure in the public and private sectors, which is distributed by 60% in the public sector and 40% in the private sector as well as the investment environment in the Kingdom, which stimulated investment in private hospitals sector with more than JD 3 billion.
 
He said that private hospitals have invested in the introduction of a large number of modern medical devices, which are in excess of their need and at high financial cost, but the availability of this technology has made the service available to patients at low prices and without the need to wait and helped doctors to diagnose accurately and conduct operations in the shortest possible time and high success rates.
 
Dr. Al- Hammouri also talked about the investment of private hospitals in providing infrastructure and medical and administrative staff to serve patients, while spending huge amount of money on promoting Jordan as attracting destination for medical tourism. He pointed out that the revenues of medical tourism are distributed by 35% in the health sector and 65% in other economic sectors. The results of the public health investment were reviewed in improving the health indicators in the Kingdom as the average life expectancy during the last 20 years increased from 66 years to 73 years as one infant mortality rate has dropped from 34.6 to 17 per 1,000 live births and the maternal mortality rate has dropped from 40 to 19 per 100,000 births while the rate of access to vaccines reached 99%.
