H.E Abdelmalek Sellal Prime Minister of Algeria expressed his admiration for the great strides that Jordan has achieved in the health sector and called for greater cooperation between Jordanian and Algerian health sectors during his visit to the PHA- Private Hospitals Association’s wing at the Algeria International Fair 2017 opening ceremony.
The PHA’s wing included booths for member hospitals of the Jordan Medical Tourism Consortium JMTC; which is a coalition of private hospitals involved with medical tourism that was formed last year supported by the USAID Jordan Competitiveness Programme, they are: Jordan Hospital, Istishari Hospital, Istiklal Hospital, Essra Hsopital, Speciality Hospital, Al-Khalidi Hospital and Medical Centre and AL-Rashid Hospital Centre for Psychiatry and King Hussein Cancer Center, in addition to a separate booth for the Islamic Hospital .
Jordanian ambassador to Algeria Mr. Ahmad Jaradat, visited the PHA hospitals wing and expressed the government’s support to medical tourism and expressed that it has started new initiatives to revive the health collaboration agreement that was signed between Jordan and Algeria in the past.
On the sidelines of the exhibition a delegation representing the PHA and the JMTC hospitals met with Dr. Ali Razouqi Chief of Bureau at the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform in Algeria, and Dr. Slimane Melouka General Manager of the National Pensions Fund to discuss mutual cooperation.
Moreover, the Jordanian hospital’s wing was well received by locals and the media in Algeria as it was covered through several interviews and reports in local media that showcased the medical excellence and advancement of health services in Jordan.
On his part, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri- PHA chairman, welcomed the positive feedback received in Algeria and expressed his hope of renewing the medical and health collaboration between the two countries to encourage patients from Algeria to seek medical treatment in Jordan.
