Minister of Health Dr. Ibrahim Al-Bdour hosted the Chairman of the Private Hospitals Association, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, along with the association’s Board Members, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Ministry of Health headquarters.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Board Members, affirming his appreciation for the role of private hospitals as an important part of the national healthcare system, and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the Association in coordinating efforts to serve both the public and private health sectors.
For his part, Dr. Al-Hammouri congratulated the Minister on assuming his new position, wishing him success in leading the Ministry of Health, overseeing the healthcare sector in all its components, and enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and the private sector in a way that serves the country and its citizens.
Al-Hammouri also reviewed the main challenges facing the private hospital sector and the difficult economic conditions that have led to the stumbling of some hospitals and the closure of others. He called for a re-examination of the health insurance patients’ agreement, signed in 2008, to ensure it keeps pace with current changes; for consideration of purchasing services from private hospitals to reduce pressure on public hospitals; and for facilitating the procedures for purchasing medicines from the Ministry of Health warehouses when they are unavailable in the market.
He further stressed the need to involve the Private Hospitals Association in any amendments to legislations and regulations related to the health sector, in order to strengthen the principle of participation and consultation in developing regulations that serve the sector and enhance its competitiveness.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Hammouri expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s understanding of the Association’s demands, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and serious efforts to overcome challenges and support the stability of this vital sector, whose investments exceed 4 billion Jordanian dinars and employ more than 40,000 Jordanians. The Minister also affirmed that the Ministry is keen to strengthen its partnership with the Private Hospitals Association in a way that serves the interests of the citizens and raises the level of healthcare services in Jordan.
