Upon a kind invitation from the Deputy Head of the National Center for Security Crisis Management, Brigadier General Hatem Al-Zoubi, the Board Members of the Private Hospitals Association, headed by Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, met with the Center’s management on Sunday, July 20, 2025, to explore ways of boosting collaboration between both sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, Brig. Gen. Al-Zoubi warmly welcomed the Association’s members, praising the achievements of the Jordanian healthcare sector and stressing the key role the private sector plays in maintaining national health resilience, particularly since private hospitals provide around one third of the sector’s hospital beds. He emphasized their contribution in strengthening Jordan’s overall health security.
From his side, Dr. Hammouri expressed pride in the Center’s pivotal role, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it was instrumental in streamlining coordination across sectors. He highlighted that private hospitals handled approximately 35% of COVID-19 cases and treated over 100 sick and injured children from Gaza free of charge. He also affirmed the private sector’s commitment to provide quality medical services under all circumstances, as an essential pillar of the nation’s health preparedness.
Several important topics were discussed during the meeting, most notably: the participation of private hospitals in “Darb Al-Aman 5” simulation exercise, coordination efforts to treat Gaza patients and the wounded, the appointment of a focal point with the Center, activating the JENS system and linking it with private hospitals, as well as enhancing cooperation in combating misinformation and fake news. The discussion also covered ways to reinforce both cyber and pharmaceutical security, with a recommendation to secure unavailable medications from Ministry of Health warehouses.
There was also a reference to the need for private sector engagement in future projects, such as the genetic sequencing initiative, which will require further in-depth study before activation.
The meeting concluded with a tour inside the Center, where attendees were introduced to how operations are managed during emergencies and crises, including coordination mechanisms among various involved parties. Brigadier General Al-Zoubi concluded by thanking all participants for their presence and cooperation, valuing their continuous efforts to support and elevate Jordan’s healthcare sector.
