The Private Hospitals Association Board Meets with Directors of Hospitals from Various Governorates

The Board of the Private Hospitals Association, headed by Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, held a wide-ranging meeting with directors of private hospitals from different governorates outside the capital. The meeting took place on Tuesday at Irbid Specialty Hospital, based on an invitation from the Association’s Vice President and the hospital’s General Director, Dr. Wasfi Al-Rashdan. The meeting also saw the attendance of Dr. Shahir Shotanawi, who is the head of the Health Committee in the Parliament.

Dr. Al-Rashdan welcomed the attendees warmly, and pointed out the value of such gatherings to highlight the obstacles hospitals in the governorates have been dealing with. He underlined the importance of cooperation and finding realistic, long-term solutions that everyone could agree on.

Dr. Al-Hammouri, for his part, reiterated the Association’s ongoing support to private hospitals across the country, and said that this sector remains a main foundation of Jordan’s healthcare system. He also noted its contribution to the national economy is not minor and deserves attention.

The discussions included a number of pressing issues, such as the high operating costs, shortage of medical professionals due to migration, limited financial liquidity, and the drop in medical tourism caused by the unstable regional situation.

MP Shotanawi emphasized His Majesty King Abdullah II’s continuous care for the health sector, and suggested that there should be more serious collaboration between public and private providers. He shared that there’s an intention to organize a joint meeting that brings together the Association’s board, members of the parliamentary health committee, and the Minister of Health, in order to come up with real and doable solutions that can benefit all sides.
