PHA participates in the Jordanian-Lithuanian Business Forum

       

 

Chairman of the Private Hospitals Association Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri participated in the economic Jordanian delegation that visited Lithuania recently, headed by Industry, Trade and Supply Minister Yarub Qudah. The visit, which follows His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit last May, aims to discuss bilateral cooperation and the increase of Lithuanian investments in the Kingdom

 
Dr. AL-Hammouri attended the Jordanian-Lithuanian Business Forum that was held as part of the visit, and also visited the Lithuanian Health Ministry where he met with the deputy Health Minister and discussed ministry’s role in regulation and control in addition to national health insurance policy in Lithuania.  Al-Hammouri also met with the head of the national health insurance fund to get acquainted with their policies and funding resources, “It is beneficial to learn from the Lithuanian national health insurance experience to see how we can move forward in applying a similar system in Jordan, a project adopted by the Health Ministry in cooperation between the public and private sectors”, Al-Hammouri commented. 
 
During his visit Dr. Al-Hammouri met with the several Lithuanian organizations and entities involved in medical tourism and briefed them about Jordan’s success story in this field explaining the welcoming investment environment in Jordan encouraged health sector investments as 60% of hospitals in Jordan are private whereas the private hospitals in Lithuanian are only 5%. He also discussed mutual cooperation opportunities with president of the Lithuanian private hospitals and centers association. 
 
The purpose of this visit was to pave the way for increasing commercial exchange between Jordan and Lithuania and establish “good” economic relations in the fields of maritime transport, tourism, medical tourism and educational exchange.
