A launch event to announce the agreement between the Private Hospitals Association and Sam Green Power Company was held at Le Royal hotel in Amman on October 1st 2017. During the launch event that was attended by the French ambassador in Jordan Mr. David Bertolotti and Sam Green Power board members from France, an agreement was signed by PHA Chairman Dr. Fawzi AL-Hammouri and General Manager of Sam Green Power in Jordan Ms. Valerie Cazaban, to build a solar power farm with the capacity of 40 Megawatt in its first phase to benefit member hospitals in the PHA.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Al-Hammouri announced that this project is finally realized after years of strenuous efforts by PHA with official bodies and bypassing many obstacles, to finally achieve this project that is expected to reduce the electricity bill by 60% thus alleviating this financial burden on hospitals”. Al-Hammouri added: “Hospitals pay three times the electricity cost that other sectors pay, which makes the energy cost at hospitals amount to 18% of its operational cost, this is very high compared to international standards which amounts to 12%”.

“Signing this agreement comes in line with PHA mission to serve its members and try to improve their financial capabilities so that it will reflect positively and improve the quality of healthcare they provide to patients. Moreover, it reduces the hospitals’ carbon footprint and preserve the local environment”, Al-Hammouri added.

At the end of the ceremony DR. Fawzi Al-Hammouri presented shields of honor to both His Excellency the French Ambassador Mr. David Bertolotti and Ms. Valerie Cazaban and Sam Green Power Board members.
