The Private Hospitals Association is following up the emergency withdrawal of some medicines

 

 

The chairman of the Private Hospitals Association Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri said that the association follows with great interest the issue of impurities that could be carcinogenic in some drugs containing the active substance (Valsartan) and used by blood pressure and arterial tension patients and it puts the health and safety of the citizen above all considerations.

 
Dr. Al-Hammouri praised the ongoing communication between the Private Hospitals Association and the Jordan Food and Drug Administration about the safety and health of citizens and visitors of the Kingdom. He pointed out that the Association responded to the circular issued by Jordan Food land Drugs Administration and informed the private hospitals regarding the announcement of the precautionary withdrawal for some pharmaceutical preparations containing the material (Valsartan) which is of Chinese origin supplied to some pharmaceutical companies and factories in many countries of the world including Jordan.
 
He stressed the presence of alternative medicines containing the same substance from other sources and the need of patients who use these drugs to consult their doctors to give them one of these safe alternatives.
 
Dr. Al-Hammouri said that the Private Hospitals Association has taken procedures to ensure that private hospitals stop dealing with these drugs and dispense these medications to patients for their safety, in line with the directions of the Jordan Food and Drug Administration.
