In the presence of representatives from eight Arab countries Jordan Numbering Association (GS1 Jordan) organized Introductory meeting for private hospitals

 

 

     

 
The GS1 Jordan, in collaboration with the World Organization GS1 and the Private Hospitals Association, organized an introductory meeting for private hospitals at the Landmark Hotel on Wednesday 20/6/2018.
The Chairman of the Private Hospitals Association and a member of the Board Directors of the Jordan Numbering Association, Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, opened the meeting with a speech, he pointing out that the Jordanian health sector has achieved great successes, which made the Kingdom the first destination in the region for medical tourism as Jordan received more than 250 thousand patients annually from different Countries of the world. He stressed the keenness of concerned authorities in Jordan to introduce international accreditation in Jordanian hospitals, which ensures the quality and safety of services provided to patients, as well as taking care to keep abreast of the new use of technology in various services.
 
Dr. Al-Hammouri said that it is important for Jordanian hospitals to benefit from the services provided by the Jordanian Numbering Authority, which was established to meet the needs of the industrial, commercial and service sectors using barcode technology, QR-Code and GS1 System of Standards, where products, services and assets are defined by having of unique global numbers. He noted that the Association plays an important role in spreading knowledge, awareness and training on the latest technical developments related to coding, and developing technical solutions to contribute to raising the efficiency of work and improving performance in various economic sectors.
 
He said that more than 1,400 Jordanian companies and institutions currently benefit from the coding services provided by the Jordan Numbering Association.
 
 
Dr. Al-Hammouri added that GS1 has shown great interest in the health care sector due to the complexity of its operations, as it is using a large number of medicines, medical equipment, consumables and medical supplies in addition to the huge diversity of services offered.
 
He said that it is necessary to develop unified universal coding standards for the health services sector to ensure that the right medication is given to the right patient at the correct time and in the right way, adding that by using these applications, it would be possible to reduce costs, waste and human mistakes.
 
The application of the GS1 System of Standards within the healthcare sector has become necessary in order to improve patient safety and reduce medical mistakes (drug mistake, patient identification, etc.), enable product recalls, combat counterfeiting, increase efficiency and save costs improve accounting interactions and billing, adjust inventory consumption of medicines and medical supplies, increase productivity, reduce service time, improve measurement and management of the supply chain, efficiently document the patient's health  electronic  record and increase patient satisfaction.
 
The CEO of the Jordan Numbering Association, Mrs. Maysaloon Gammoh, welcomed the participants and stressed the continued cooperation between the Association and the health care sector in Jordan, pointing out the establishment of a national working group to develop the working mechanisms in the field of coding in accordance with international standards, noting that cooperation in this field includes the Jordan Food and Drug Administration.
 
 
The attendees also heard speeches by the President of the Health Care Sector of the International Numbering Organization, Ms. Ulrich Krissa, and the Director of the Hospital Sector, Ms. Alice van der Wilden.
The meeting was attended by executives and officials from Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan. It was also attended by representatives of a large number of Jordanian hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and stakeholders in the health care sector.
 
During the meeting, representatives of the hospitals were briefed on a number of practical applications and experiences of different countries on the use of international standards for the definition and coding of medicines, medical supplies, assets, service providers and patients, which contribute to raising work efficiency, improving patient safety and reducing costs by using modern technological means in line with the needs of the Health care sector at the local level as a first step in the cooperation of the Jordanian Numbering Association with  the Jordanian hospitals.
