PHA signed MOU with WE LEAD project

  

 

The Private Hospitals Association signed a memorandum of understanding with World University Service of Canada (WUSC) to develop a framework of cooperation and partnership to identify, introduce, and engage private sector hospitals as key partners under the WE LEAD project that is funded by the Canadian government. 

 
The Women’s Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD) project is funded by Global Affairs Canada and is being implemented by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC), constituting the Project Consortium. The project aims to increase women’s empowerment for sustainable economic growth through focusing on women’s employment by businesses and the reduction of gender specific barriers to women entering into and remaining in the workforce. 
 
The MOU was signed by Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri PHA Chairman and Ms. Niveen Bataineh, Jordan Country Director WUSC, also attending were Mr. Sam Landon Deputy Director Program Strategy and Implementation at WUSC and Mr. David Comerford Director of Programs and Partnerships at CLIC. 
Al Hammouri commented on this MOU saying “We at PHA are keen to increase female participation in the health sector, we fully support WE LEAD project and will work closely with our member hospitals to provide internship and employment opportunities for trainees”.    
 
On her behalf Ms. Bataineh thanked PHA for their support since the beginning of the project which will run for 4 years in three locations (East Amman, Irbid and Salt), saying “We aim to train 600 Jordanian females to enhance market-driven skills through vocational training in health administration and health care support. The training will be held in collaboration with the Vocational Training Corporation VTC centers in these areas, and will be adopted as one of the ongoing training courses offered by these centers to ensure sustainability of the project”.
