The Private Hospitals Association held two introductory sessions in collaboration with Women’s Economic Linkages and Employment Development (WE LEAD) project for member hospitals in Amman and IRBID. The session was aimed at introducing the private hospitals to the project and conducting a needs assessment for the training requirements to enhance market-driven skills through vocational training in health administration and health care support, with a delegation from Camosun College- Canada.
Ms. Niveen Batayneh, General Manager of World University Service of Canada (WUSC) Jordan Office, gave an introductory note in which she explained that the WE LEAD project is funded by Global Affairs Canada and is being implemented by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) and Canadian Leaders in International Consulting (CLIC), constituting the Project Consortium. The project aims to increase women’s empowerment for sustainable economic growth through focusing on women’s employment by businesses and the reduction of gender specific barriers to women entering into and remaining in the workforce. The project will be implemented over a period of four years, from March 7, 2017 to March 31, 2021 in three locations (East Amman, Irbid and Salt) in Jordan.
On his part Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri, PHA Chairman, emphasized that the purpose of such workshops and collaborations is to ultimately enhance the quality of healthcare that private hospitals provide to patients, as they always strive to improve this care. Al-Hammouri added we will be signing an agreement with WE LEAD to facilitate communication with private hospitals and secure internship and work opportunities for trainees.
