Dr. Fawzi Al-Hammouri expressed his appreciation to Health Minister Dr. Mahmoud Sheyyab for his ongoing support to private public sector cooperation, and to the Blood Banks Directorate at the Health Ministry for its kind gesture of honoring blood donors for their human and generous action.
At a celebration held by the Blood Banks Directorate at the Health Ministry in celebration of the World Blood Donor Day on 26/8/2017 Dr. Al-Hammouri also praised the efforts of the Blood Banks Directorate staff in providing private hospitals with blood units and blood products for both Jordanian and foreign patients alike, noting that it had provided over 100,000 units in 2016.
Moreover, private hospitals hold annual blood drives to assist in the directorate efforts and maintaining their blood reserve levels.
During the celebration, Health Minister distributed honor certificates to 3 private hospitals for organizing blood drives namely: Jordan, Specialty and Gardens Hospitals. The Minister also honored and thanked individuals and companies who donate blood constantly and support the blood bank, describing their contribution as essential and valuable for sustainability of the blood bank work.
It is worth mentioning that the blood bank had collected 215,000 blood units from 54,000 donors, and organized 174 blood drives in 2016.
